The holidays are here!
Ah, the holidays! Nights are longer, days are shorter and for most of us, it’s colder! We feast with friends and then we come home and eat some more. Thanksgiving leftovers can stretch for days! We grab fast food on the go while trying to cram in shopping. We order dinner out or have it delivered because we just don’t have time to cook. People bring doughnuts, cookies, cakes and pies to work. We have office parties, gatherings with friends and at least two more feasts to prepare before January 1, 2020 calls it a night. It really is no wonder we start feeling soft around the middle at the start of the new year.
This is where I can help! I can hold you accountable to yourself, while providing safe and effective health and fitness routines for you. You may be out looking for the perfect gift for everyone else, but shouldn’t you be allowed to give yourself the gift of health and fitness so you can celebrate for years to come?
You can reach out to me directly whenever you’d like to setup a complimentary session. Or, if you are wanting to give the gift of working with a personal trainer, I do sell gift certificates to put under the tree or in the stocking.

Why I became a Personal Trainer
Living in Cartersville in NW Georgia, hardly a week goes by where I don’t hear about the fitness level of so many Americans. It’s never good news. We hear ad nauseam reports about sitting for too long, not moving enough, eating the wrong foods and the need to exercise more. But, how does the average American, sitting in commuter traffic for sometimes two to three hours a day, along with 8-9 hours at a desk, find the time to “move more”? Add to that mix life with a spouse (or significant other), children, pets, etc… and by the time you have a moment to yourself, the last thing you feel like doing is moving!
I was in that exact same predicament just a few years ago. I was adding weight, losing muscle tone, eating poorly and feeling my energy levels slipping with each passing month. I tried to find a personal trainer, but everywhere I turned, I had to pick from either a chiseled, muscle-bound male or a petite, female swimsuit competitor. Admittedly, I was jealous of their bodies and how they had sculpted themselves into paragons of fitness, but I knew that wasn’t going to be my path. I needed a realistic plan for results that would put me back to a healthy weight, give me additional muscle tone and promote a healthy heart with attainable cardio workouts. I needed to find someone, well, like me, only IN SHAPE! It was time to take a leap of faith.
Taking the next leap, are you ready?
While getting my personal trainer certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, I added the diet and nutrition modules to provide me with a well-rounded approach to health and fitness. I had to become my own personal trainer to get the results I wanted.
I decided a career change was in order. After all, I could not be the only one juggling family, career and extracurricular activities. With that, SJD Health and Fitness became a reality here in NW Georgia. It is my goal to take all I have learned and help others achieve their own goals for personal health and fitness. What’s more, my backstory is the same as so many others and I hope it can be the inspiration you need to find that path to a better you.
SJD Health and Fitness operates in Cartersville, Georgia, conveniently located to support all of the surrounding communities, including the municipalities of Adairsville, Kingston, Emerson, Euharlee and White within Bartow County. Because of my location, I am also able to serve clients in Cherokee, Cobb, Paulding and Polk counties, which includes the cities of Acworth and Dallas.
